How to View Wi-Fi Passwords on iPhone (Current + Saved Networks)

Knowing how to view a Wi-Fi password on your iPhone is one of those small skills that ends up being super useful. Maybe a friend is over and needs to connect, you’re setting up a new laptop, or you’re troubleshooting a smart TV. Instead of guessing (or resetting the router), you can quickly reveal and share the password right from iOS.

Below are the easiest ways to see both the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to right now and older networks you’ve joined in the past.

View the password for the Wi-Fi you’re currently using

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Find the network you’re connected to (it should have a checkmark)
  4. Tap the ⓘ (Info) button next to that network
  5. Tap Password
  6. Confirm with Face ID / Touch ID / passcode to reveal it

Once it’s visible, you can read it out loud or copy it to share in a message.

View passwords for previously connected Wi-Fi networks

If you’ve connected to a Wi-Fi network before (at home, work, a client site, etc.), your iPhone may still have it saved.

Option 1: Settings → Wi-Fi → Edit (Saved Networks)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Tap Edit (top-right)
  4. Authenticate with Face ID / Touch ID / passcode
  5. Tap the ⓘ (Info) button next to a saved network
  6. Tap Password to reveal it

This is great when you remember the network name but not the password.

Option 2 (iOS 18+): Use the Passwords app (fastest for sharing)

  1. Open the Passwords app
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Select the network you want
  4. Tap Password to reveal it
  5. Use Copy Password to paste it into a text, email, or note

This is usually the cleanest way to copy/paste without mistakes.

Quick tips for sharing safely

  • Share Wi-Fi passwords only with people you trust.
  • If you’re giving access to guests often, consider making a separate “Guest” network.
  • If you don’t see a “Password” option, your iPhone may need an iOS update (or the network may not be saved).
